Provides direct, non-technical physical and operational support to maintenance fitters and technicians during preventive routines, breakdowns, and overhauls, ensuring clean and safely staged work areas.
Key responsibilities:
- Transport tools, tackles, and pneumatic equipment from tool cribs to field job sites.
- Assist in manual lifting, moving, and rigging of valves, pump casings, and motor covers under supervision.
- Carry out continuous housekeeping — wiping spills, removing grease, and clearing scrap across work areas.
- Set up temporary barricades, caution tapes, and safety sheets before hot work or open-pit maintenance.
- Clean disassembled components using degreasers, brushes, and emery paper during overhauls.
- Act as standby helper during confined-space entries inside drums, waterboxes, or coal mills.
Technical skills: Basic hand tools, lifting tackle (slings, shackles), industrial cleaning chemicals.
Education: 8th/10th Standard, basic ITI trade certificate, or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering (any is acceptable).
Experience: 3-5 years in industrial plant or utility sites.
