IBR Welder

Executes precision welding, cutting, and structural fabrication across high-pressure boiler tubes, steam piping, and structural work to prevent fluid leaks and structural failure.
Key responsibilities:
- Perform high-pressure TIG root and MMAW/SMAW fill/cap welding on carbon/alloy/stainless steel boiler tubes.
- Cut and bevel pipe sections, plates, and beams using oxy-acetylene and grinders for weld preparation.
- Interpret isometric drawings, welding procedure specifications (WPS), and NDT acceptance criteria.
- Fabricate replacement pipe spools, support hangers, and structural frames as required.
- Prepare test coupons for RT/UT inspection to maintain IBR-qualified welder status.
- Inspect completed welds for porosity, undercut, and inclusions before calling NDT technicians.
Technical skills: IBR welding codes, ASME Section IX, pre/post-weld heat treatment, electrode classification.
Education: ITI Welder/Fabricator or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering; valid IBR Welder Certificate (all positions) preferred.
Experience: 3-6 years welding in thermal power or high-pressure steam utilities.
Qualification: ITI with IBR certificate
