Leads troubleshooting and testing of critical HV switchgear, generator auxiliaries, VFDs, and outdoor switchyard gear; guides junior technicians.
Key responsibilities:
- Overhaul and service VCB/SF6 circuit breakers across 6.6kV, 11kV, and switchyard systems.
- Test power transformers — winding resistance, IR, and oil dielectric breakdown voltage.
- Troubleshoot and maintain VFDs and soft starters for fans and pumps.
- Assist protection engineers with relay calibration and secondary injection testing.
- Investigate trip conditions (earth fault, overcurrent, differential) and isolate the source.
- Train junior electricians on racking techniques and schematic tracing.
Technical skills: Breaker mechanisms, contact resistance/oil BDV testing, VFD parameters.
Education: ITI Electrician / Diploma Electrical Engineering.
Experience: 6-10 years in power stations or HV substations.
Qualification: ITI
